Many people are transitioning to using online apps to make their payments to avoid using cash. The Better Business Bureau scam tracker has reported that scammers are using CashApp to steal people's money. Here's what to look out for when you are using the app.
When you make a payment, the scammer immediately blocks you. Avoid making payments to people/businesses that only accept CashApp.
Another way that the scammers are working involves fake customer support numbers. When the customer experiences a problem with the app, they search for a customer support number. CashApp will never ask you for payment information over the phone.
Make sure that you are checking your information carefully before sending money. Also, link your CashApp account to a credit card. This will easily protect you from a scam. Linking to a debit card or directly to your bank account does not give you that added protection.
